A Piece Of Yourself

A piece of yourself. $18.00.
a piece of yourself
When no object seams to be perfect for the one you sherish, why not just give away a piece of yourself?

When a lock of hair isn’t enough.

Found on the FP.

So, you are saying that if I take my son’s Silly Putty, pull out a few hairs (thank goodness they are not the curly variety, tho), stick them in the Silly Putty…I could get on the FP? Amazing!

Isn’t the title deceptive advertising? I found the listing, and the item is not biologically related to the buyer. It’s faux flesh and human wig hair, but not the buyer’s hair.

It’s stupid, gross, useless, and in my opinion without any artistic merit. As are way too many of the items Etsy promotes these days.

Was this…thing on the FP because it was in a treasury or was it picked by the witless Etsy staff? Anyone know?

So this was on the FP?

One more reason why Etsy is less relevant than eBay in the modern yard sale world.

Etsy has done more to destroy the image of artisan craftsmanship than any other venue in the history of the world. Thousands of years of artisan crafts in textiles, ceramics, metals, paints – reduced to shit with enameled hairs and primitive line drawings and used dirty sock creations.

Etsy should be ashamed of itself for destroying Handmade. They are an Epic Fail.

I figured out how to use CraftCult to find the FP collection including this item. It was a FP collection picked by Etsy admin. I’m not really surprised, but I am disappointed. I thought it surely had to be some community member goofing around with a treasury.

I’m not sure Etsy has actually destroyed handmade — or that one site with really odd standards for chosing what type of items to promote can destroy handmade. But Etsy seems to be working hard to push good design and creativity into the background. Which is totally stupid for a handmade site.

  11. Again with the Front Page rubbish!
I found the FP on CraftCult too. Link: http://www.craftcult.com/vault_list.php?list=4405&fm=2&esn=Madamedgar&m=8&d=&st=2&pagenum=1&ls=0
Ok, they are going with a faux taxidermy theme, which is pretty cool. (I’m glad to see weirdbuglady on there, I follow her blog.) But this piece seems out of place – it’s not cute, just downright disgusting.

But, schnyeh, who am I to say who ‘deserves’ FP status?

Because it seems the admin is on the younger side, I think they are trying to be “hip” and “alternative”, which is fine, but then, they should maybe go with separate sites or sections. That way, people that aren’t interested in the alternative stuff don’t have to be subjected to it.

Just because an item fits into one of those cutesy categories the marketting shmuck made up DOES NOT mean it’s in good taste, artistic, or deserving of being promoted or even seen. TASTELESS, shameless Etsy.

I think it looks like a single testicle…. or maybe a dermoid cyst… they tend to have hair in them… This is so nasty, I wouldn’t even want to know where you would put that…I would however LOVE to see someone’s face as you give it to them bwahahaha I’m sure that would be a Kodak moment!

  16. I was going to say what Nicky said, that it looks like someone is missing a testicle, but the hair needs to be a little more curly.

    A-friggin-men
Etsy is a tresure trove of young, hip, JUNK. Craftsmanship, design, and TASTE are relegated to…
where? They’d rather be hip than have anyone think they were older than 32, and had some taste. Never trust anyone under 30.

If it were a quarter inch long and meant to be applied to your nose to complete your wicked witch costume I’d say it was cool. A couple inches in length and meant as a gift for a loved one…….

If Etsy’s target market were composed of 12 year old boys, this would be quite the score for a FP item. The taste level just continues to sink deeper and deeper into the muck . WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s really sad, the Etsy staff have always chosen novelty over quality.

The people running the site truly have no idea about art or craftsmanship… especially the idiot founders. It’s atrocious.
