Petey the Sexual Harassment….PANDA. $6.50.

Remember the advice of Petey the Sexual Harassment Panda with this inspiring charm necklace.
I never watched South Park but I remember this. The panda charm is cute but the name became a sort of jokey insult, where I’m from anyway, so you’d be a bit of a laughingstock if you were caught wearing it.
In keeping with the sexual harassment theme, here’s something for all you paranoid parents out there to humiliate and frighten your kids.
Sex Offender Updates…Tees to Warn…Your Voice Can Help Save a Child Who is Too Frightened to Speak For Himself…..I Will Tell if You Touch Me. $16.00.

I won’t bother posting the description. It’s very long and rants about Garrido and how you should be on the look out for sex offenders that you’ve seen on the internet. It then goes on to warn against letting your child go into homeless shelters and the dangers of BPA baby bottles, then gives you a recipe for sweet potato fries.
Thanks to Renee for sending in the necklace and to the reader who sent in the t-shirt.

I like how the fingers on the t-shirt point directly to the child’s crotch area.

Would people seriously put their kids in one of those t-shirts??

Ah yes, more food for our new fear -based societies. (Everything is dangerous, everyone is out to get you, don’t leave home without your armor, crash helmet, and shotgun. FEAR! FEAR! FEAR! FEAR!)

I’ve seen this t-shirt (and the shop) a few times now during various Etsy searches. For kids clothes. Not pervert-wear. Just so we are clear.
This shirt says “I’m homeschooled and have no friends”. Because what all potential play-mates and teachers want to be faced with is the passive aggressive accusation that they are all felons who just haven’t been caught yet.

Any parent who would buy that shirt for their child needs counseling. Seriously. This is by far the most upsetting item I’ve seen to date. I think if someone has an idea to make and sell something like this, they should discuss it first with a professional. Sometimes the best of intentions can go very wrong in the hands of someone who doesn’t get all the implications.

It sounds as if the seller has just been watching too much TV, but I agree, they need guidance from someone or other. It’s taking “stranger danger” education a step too far and they don’t seem to have considered (or possibly just ignored) the adverse effects a t-shirt like that could have.

STOOPID

I think it could be a bit subtler–something along the lines of “Chris Hansen is Watching You” would have more appeal, personally.

speaking as someone who suffered sexual abuse as a child, this garment would not have made a fucks bit of difference.
it would also have embarrassed the shit out of me;)

Such a lovely description though. “HOMELESS SHELTER ALERT! Parents Beware! Registered Sex Offenders Are Living in Homeless Shelters! Keep your child under your watchful eye at all times!”
How about : “Parents beware! UNregistered sex offenders are living in your street, are members of your social club and maybe even your family.”
*sigh*

Wow, in the listing for that shirt there’s a tasty-looking recipe for Sweet Potato Fries. I also discovered valuable information about healthy breakfasts, social security, baby bottles and child prostitution. And sex offenders, of course. And there’s even a paragraph about the t-shirt! Buried way down at the bottom.
