wow such hostility and rude insults. so much for thoughtful, respectful discussion. i didn't point out that all these women who commented were assuming. i didn't name names, i just said many. i think this zine celebrates the dialog and space to address important issues. i can agree that the description can be better worded, but insults have no place in CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. everyone has a right to their opinions and passion--some like to have meaningful discussion about 'lady bits', some don't. it's nothing to condemn. the discussion/representation/celebration/imagery of the female parts have been around throughout history, this is just one of the latest incarnations of these important parts of the body and the mystery of life.
LONG LIVE VULVAS AND VAGINAS AND DICKS TOO!!!

@connie @alisia

"the newest lady-loving zine, CUNTastic, is a celebration of all things cunt: reproductive health, menstruation, pregnancy, birth, abortion, mothering, patriarchy, oppression, STIs, sexual assault, sex-positive living, and much, much, more."

Let me pick out the relevant bit of that for you, since reading comprehension's obviously not your thing.

"...celebration of all things cunt: ... patriarchy, oppression, STIs, sexual assault..."

If that's not claiming to celebrate sexual assault, etc., I don't know what is. No assumption made at all.

And no, I'm not ashamed to talk about vaginas or birth or whatever - now who's assuming? I just don't see why lady bits are such a big deal. As long as mine continue to function, I don't care.

wow judgemental crowd here today?? i bought this at a zine fest and it was a great zine, i really learned alot about my own body from it, things i did not know. it's not celebrating sti's and patriarchy (sheeesh) it's talking about them, i'm sorry if some folks here look at their vagina's like a fad, i'm pretty sure mine isn't going to fade into pop culture history anytime soon. cuntastic is a great read and it's reclaiming the word from men who use it in a deragatory manor (if you actually bought and read one instead of judging it by the cover you would see this). And celebrating sexual assualt! now how did you come to assume that! might as well assume the sun is green today! wow, negative people, why are you ashamed to talk about birth and vagina's? if you don't want to participate in the conversation then don't, but don't be an ass.

i think the use of cunt in this context is to reclaim it as some women do bitch, or how homosexuals may reclaim a once derogatory word used to describe them. i don't see this as something that worships genitals, but do celebrate the female workings--the wonder of it all--it is awesome and not enough attention has been paid to these parts because of patriarchy blah blah blah.
i also don't think the word cunt has anything to do with sexual assault and this zine does not promote any of those negative things other than to offer a place for information, stories and healing. it's political, it leaves the issues open to whatever experiences are out there. no, patriarchy, sti's, or sexual assault aren't thing to be celebrated perse, but they are issues that should be brought up and talked about.
i think many people in these comments are making big assumptions about the writers/contributors and the "types of women who buy...pendants etc." well let me make an assumption in saying that these women are just trying to see that their vulvas are loved and accepted to themselves as mens' penises are to the owners. that their issues and experiences are accepted as valid.

have any of you even read the zine before making such negative judgments?? i understand some may be turned off by the word cunt, but one can't please everyone. childish and silly are not words i'd use to describe this zine. it's informative, uplifting, and supportive of a variety of experiences.

Always a good idea to "celebrate" oppression, sexual assault, patriarchy, and birth and abortion in the same magazine. What a clueless idiot.

I personally don't like the "c" word and never have. It's a degrading word for women. I'm soooooo tired of the vag fad. That and the whole "system" is unique and wonderful, but why are they exploiting it? It's a system that has to deal with extreme pain or can feel pleasure or give pleasure. It gives birth, but also takes care of bodily functions. And it's amazing how much power it has over the opposite sex........but women should respect it and themselves, but by exploiting it by making pendants and pillows and god knows what else, it's taking away from the wonder that it is. It's become a joke.

I have no issue with the word cunt, but it is a word that has long been "naughty" and should still be treated as such when selling (a mature warning).

Frankly, I'm so over this whole vag-love bullshit. I'm female, I don't give a shit about celebrating my fucking vagina, so I must hate myself, right? Pardon me while I go retrieve my eyeballs from across the room, they rolled right out of their sockets.

What amuses me is the knowledge that the majority of women who buy vulva pendants and birthing canal poetry are the same types of women who rail on about men who love and name their penises.

If evolution wanted my labia on display, or me to even care about it, women would have evolved being able to see the fucking thing without the danger of a hernia while trying to get the hand mirror under your outstretched leg that is propped up on the bathroom counter.
